Living a “Life”

Living a life doesn’t only mean breathing and being alive. Living a life is being able to enjoy, appreciate and live life with others. Although there are many obstacles, it will not be as complex as how the human heart works inside your body. If you know how to live your life well you are on your way to a happier life. Here are some steps in living your life well.

Be grateful. Being grateful to the life that you have gives you a lighter heart. And with gratefulness you’ll find the real happiness. Do not be consumed with the thought that happiness comes from material things.

Do something for others. It is through sharing and doing good for others that you are able to appreciate the beauty of life. As the famous quote says, “No man is an island”. You live not only for yourself but also for others. You’ll never know that your simple smile means a lot to someone. Always remember that helping or sharing can makes you feel good.

Learn something new. Another way of bringing excitement in life is through learning whether it’s a simple lesson on how to set a table or the difficulties of learning how to forgive. Remember that learning will always be attainable for as long as you live because life is a continuous learning process. Enjoy and have fun while learning from life.

Appreciate the simple things in life. Simple things are blessings in disguise that are often overlooked by many of us. These things are what make this life simple yet worthwhile. It could be a smile from a stranger, a tap on your back, a morning greeting from your secretary, an ice cold drink in midst of summer heat, a pair of gloves, a sunset …it could be anything. What you don’t realize is that these things are what makes you smile when you are stuck in traffic, the things that kept you coming back to your favorite restaurant, the things that simple yet makes you happy in this life.

Live your dream. Striving for your dreams makes you see more of life. You encounter not only the good things of life’s surprises but also its uncertainties from which you learn life’s lessons.

Life is too short to be wasted! Enjoy and live it well.

What’s your priority?

Like everyone else you have set of priorities in life, there’s family, career, business, friends, name it and you have them all in your list. But have you ever tried to pause for a moment and take a look at your life? Are you able to enjoy it without thinking about your priorities? When was the last time you simply sat down at home and enjoyed the time being? If you always feel frazzled, maybe it’s time to relax and re-evaluate your priorities. Here are some tips that you may find useful in changing your busy life.

1. Examine your life. The best way to do it is to set a few minutes time to reflect on your life. What’s in it and what you want to do to improve it?

2. Take a look at your organizer. Are all listed there are supposed to be there? If there are things that you need to skip then erase it from your organizer. Sometimes you need to say no to give at least a little time for yourself.

3. Learn to relax and have a weekend vacation. You tend to overwork thus you forget that you are a human who needs to rest and not a robot that can work for long hours. And take note, even a robot has a limitation. :)

4. Prioritize your life. Simply live your life and not the lives of others. You cannot please everyone. It would be best if you prioritize your life by taking time to live truly and not because you have some deadlines or tasks to do. Enjoy every moment in your life, and don’t let mental clutter to take over your life. Remember that you are only working so you may have resources to live and not living a life so that you can work.

What’s your priority? Today is the time to take an action and make a difference in your life.

Don't Quit!

I was inspired by 'The Don't Quit Poem' presentation and thought I might share it to others. Here is the poem...sadly its author is unknown. Be inspired.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

…of becoming a better person

Everyone wants to be the perfect daughter or son, the perfect friend, the perfect partner, the perfect writer and so on…but nobody is perfect. We understand that nobody is perfect in this world, because we are humans who are living in imperfection. However, like everyone else we strive to be a better person. The question is what is the basis of becoming a better person? Who is the better person?

Being a better person does not mean having more in this life. It is about accepting changes and valuing the people and the things around you. It is the willingness to step out of your comfort zone and start seeing this world as wonderful place to develop your humanity.

First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do. -Epictetus

You can be a better person and you alone can determine how you can be one. Are you willing to see your better self? How much are you willing to risk in your present life? Everything starts with you.
